Getting to the doctor shouldn't be a barrier to staying healthy

In rural communities like the Quaboag region, access to healthcare often depends on access to transportation. For many residents, especially older adults and those without a car, getting to medical appointments can be difficult or even impossible. Missed visits lead to delayed care, poorer health outcomes, and higher costs for everyone.

That’s why the Quaboag Connector partnered with Baystate Wing Hospital to launch a new kind of solution.

Convenient Care Van

Free medical transportation to Baystate Health facilities.

Launched in May 2022, the Convenient Care Van is a partnership between Baystate Wing Hospital and the Quaboag Connector. It provides free non-emergency medical transportation to and from Baystate Health locations within the Connector’s 10-town service area: Belchertown, Brookfield, East Brookfield, Hardwick, Monson, North Brookfield, Palmer, Ware, Warren, West Brookfield.

This program reflects a new way of thinking about how transportation connects to community health—making it easier for people to access the care they need, when they need it.
